Andromeda was taken captive by the people of Argos to sacrifice her and save the city. With the help of Pegasus, Perseus escaped the Underworld and went to Argos just as the Kraken was released. The party arrived in the Underworld, and after a battle with lots of casualties, Perseus managed to decapitate Medusa and take her head. After a series of battles against Hades' agents, the group found the Witches, who told them that the Kraken would be killed if they got the head of Medusa, which had the power of turning into stone anyone who looked at it. Although Perseus refused the gifts, the captain of the Guard accepted to keep the sword. In a quest to kill the Kraken, Perseus went with the king's guard to the Stygian Witches, where Zeus offered the hero a divine sword and the winged horse Pegasus. Before leaving, he also said that Perseus was the demigod son of Zeus. Hades appeared and threatened to release the monster Kraken unless Andromeda was sacrificed. The couple had started a campaign against the gods and boasted that her daughter Andromeda was more beautiful than the goddess Aphrodite. The god unleashed the Furies who killed the soldiers and sank the fishing boat only Perseus survived and was found by some soldiers who brought him to King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia. One day, while fishing with his family, Perseus witnessed soldiers from Argos destroy a statue of Zeus. The fisherman took them and raised Perseus as his own child. The film starts showing the three brother gods, Zeus, Poseidon and Hades, who managed to defeat their predecessors, the Titans, and rule over the Universe. The plot is loosely based on the myth of Perseus, and the cast includes names such as Sam Worthington, Gemma Arterton, Mads Mikkelsen, Alexa Davalos, Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson. It is a remake of the film of the same name that was released in 1981. Burgess Meredith, Claire Bloom, Maggie Smith and Ursula Andress round out the cast as the Gods of Mount Olympus.Clash of the Titans is a fantasy adventure film directed by Louis Leterrier that was released in 2010.
